Mc MurdoStation to Increase Taxes Past 3% Daily

LegacySignal • June 11, 2025

There is a town in which you must pay taxes to a leader who the population says is the "dictator" of the town.

The town of Mc MurdoStation, with its 9 residents, charges all of the residents a 3% tax. This is not an income tax, it is a wealth tax: a tax that is taken because residents have money in their bank accounts.

We spoke to Progamer11835, who said that "the taxes are crazy." Progamer continued: "as of right now, he says it differes from money class: if you have more money, you pay more. When people start hitting 100k-200k, the rises will be inplaced for taxes."

EmperorPal JustGoodVM, the leader of Mc MurdoStation, who confirmed: "yes, they will be going up as more people get more money." The current tax rate is 3%. Instead of answering what the new rates will be, we were told "I am thinking of raising them in a short span and then capping them later." VM continued saying "I want the citizens to make money along side our bank."

Taxes are automatically withdrawn from accounts daily. So if someone made a lot of money, forgot about it, and then didn't check back in to their CivEarth things for several days, that is more than just a large chunk of change gone missing.

We reached out to other residents for comment. None of them responded with comments.

While the taxes and tax increases may help short term, the long-term effects could easily be people jumping town to ones that will let them keep their wealth. There's never a one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to funding towns, and we wish Mc MurdoStation the best with their future funding endeavors.
